Dellacroce death splits Gambino Family

New York's Gambino Crime Family was fractured with the death by natural causes of underboss Aniello "Neil" Dellacroce on this date (December 2) in 1985. Dellacroce had demanded that his faction in the crime family remain peacefully loyal to boss Paul Castellano. With Dellacroce's death by natural causes, John Gotti assumed leadership of the faction and plotted the murder of Castellano.
