Bonanno's son gave info to feds

Both crime family boss Joseph Bonanno and his son Salvatore "Bill" Bonanno loudly condemned those mafiosi who cooperated with and fed information to law enforcement. But government documents reveal that Bill Bonanno - selected as consigliere of the Bonanno Crime Family - actively engaged with FBI agents during the "Banana War" period and provided data about crime family members and activities.

Separate research some years ago led Edmond Valin and me to the conclusion that the younger Bonanno must have been the source of FBI intelligence on the Bonanno Crime Family. So, when Valin offered mafiahistory.us an article discussing the connections between Bill Bonanno and the unnamed source in FBI reports, I was very receptive. The article has been revised a couple of times since it first appeared. The most substantial revision was done in November 2017, when additional documentation from the FBI made Bill Bonanno's cooperation a certainty.
