Giancana's Doctor

Post by parlay » Fri, Mar 1, 2019, 9:37 am

I am new to the forum, and this is my first post...

Can anybody help me track down Sam Giancana's most trusted doctor or doctors.

I know almost nothing about him except that the may be from or later lived in San Francisco.

I think he was born around or just before the turn of the century but that's because I am assuming he is around Giancana's age which of course he might not be.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I'm not sure this is what you're looking for:

In 1975, Giancana had gall bladder surgery performed by Dr. Michael DeBakey of Houston, Texas. I assume the procedure was performed at Methodist Hospital in Houston. The FBI reported that attorney Jorge Castillo persuaded DeBakey to take on Giancana as a patient:

I am aware of one other doctor that had a connection of sorts with Giancana. Dr. Manuel Varona of Fresh Meadow, New York, reportedly had conversations with many involved in plots to overthrow Fidel Castro. But, when questioned, Dr. Varona did not recall meeting with Giancana, Santo Trafficante or Johnny Rosselli.

FBI also reported in 1958 on a Dr. William D. Nestos of Chicago, whose patients seemed to be exclusively members of the Chicago Ouftit. FBI did not specifically link Dr. Nestos with Giancana. It reported that Gus Alex was a close associate of the doctor. Dr. Nestos was said to visit Las Vegas about once a month.

Thank you for this.

I am in fact trying to trace another doctor, born around 1925 and based in San Francisco who bought a house in Lake Tahoe in the mid 1980's. All I know about him is that his father was apparently a long time 'mafia doctor' who know Giancana and reportedly had stories to tell about his experiences. His son however went to Harvard and was said to have been a dorm mate of Robert Kennedy in the early 1940's and later became a successful, if more conventional doctor.

Your names were interesting but not I think this guy, my facts however are sketchy at the moment and I very much appreciate the information.
