Capone passes away in Florida

On this date (Jan. 25) in 1947, Al Capone died of pneumonia and heart failure, complications of a recent stroke. He died at his south Florida home at the age of 48. Once the top underworld power in the Chicago area, Capone's health deterioriated during his 1930s prison sentence for tax evasion. When he emerged from prison, he entered retirement from the rackets.
